canyon skylands offer wild landscapes and a unique variant of birdlife only found here. rocky terrain and the occasional wind turbine may feature, as well as sparsely populated cacti. these Skylands additionally tend to have a more active island core.

desert skylands offer a high chance of pyramids, perhaps across several land masses. cacti may be your only source of hydration however, as water is noticably more sparse than elsewhere. these skylands tend to decay, causing an irregular layout for most deserts.

the arctic has a great aesthetic, a snowy white landscape with a blue tinted underground and plentiful rivers. However as the effects of global events have taken place, these skylands are splitting apart into many smaller iceberg-like landmasses. the land itself is irregular and proves a fascinating place to explore.

with a chaos skyland, anything goes. this is full on randomisation mode with minimal constraints. if you're lucky enough to get one of these you could end up in the arctic with abundant lava and pyramids, or an abstract purple-colored island covered in wind turbines and waterfalls, or anywhere inbetween.

any skyland can be a ghost skyland. these have unique ghost-like properties which can only be seen from particular viewing angles, with the other angles providing a glimpse of the full picture.
